Being faced with an unplanned pregnancy can be a very confusing and scary experience for many women and/or their partners. No matter what a woman decides regarding her pregnancy, it will have life long consequences. Exploring all of the options available allows parents to make an informed decision that is in the best interest of the parent(s) and child.
Pregnancy Options Counseling is a service offered by the Home of the Guardian Angel for those who are dealing with an unplanned pregnancy. Pregnancy Counseling provides support to the expectant parent(s) and allows them to explore all of their pregnancy options in an open, non-judgmental atmosphere. Expectant parent(s) (along with support persons if desired) can meet with a social worker to begin to sort out their feelings and to talk about their options in order to begin to formulate a plan for themselves and their child.
Those who choose to parent can access information, referrals to various community agencies, as well as a variety of services at the Home of the Guardian Angel's Single Parent Centre in Spryfield. For those who choose to make an adoption plan for their child, services can be accessed at 3 Sylvia Avenue in Spryfield. The Home of the Guardian Angel can also provide ongoing support to parents who are grieving the loss of a child through adoption or abortion. Referrals can be made to other community resources as needed.
Pregnancy Options Counseling is a voluntary service and is offered at no cost. Home visits can be arranged if transportation is a problem. Call or email the Home of the Guardian Angel to learn more or to set up an appointment.
